CAMP FAMILY FUN DAY
Provides popular activities, camp tours and supports camp scholarship fund
Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont (GSCP2P) is hosting Camp Family Fun Days at its three resident camps. The Girl Scout camps are open to the public and families are encouraged to attend and discover the exciting summer camp programs designed for all girls entering grades 1-12.
Camp Family Fun Day allows families to tour the facilities, meet with the camp directors and staff members and learn about camp life. Touring camp is free. Popular activities and food are available for a small cost to support the camp scholarship fund to help send girls to camp.
Girls and their parents can attend on any of the following dates at these locations from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
· June 1, 2014 – Camp Pisgah, 570 Girl Scout Camp Road, Brevard, N.C. 28712
· June 7, 2014 – Keyauwee Program Center, 2574 Sweetbriar Road, Sophia, N.C. 27350
· June 8, 2014 – Camp Ginger Cascades Adventure Base Camp, 2090 Scout Road, Lenoir, N.C. 28645
GSCP2P resident camps are American Camp Association (ACA) accredited and comply with more than 300 standards.
In addition to traditional arts and crafts, swimming, hiking, games and nature walks, Girl Scout camp also provides girls with horseback riding programs, water adventures, climbing wall challenges and canoe trips. Each of the sleeping areas have access to electricity, plumbing and hot showers.
During the summer, day camps will also be offered at each resident camp with convenient drop-off and pick-up locations available to transport girls to and from day camp. Stops include: Arden and Asheville (Camp Pisgah); Hickory, Lincolnton and Statesville (Camp Ginger Cascades Adventure Base Camp); and Asheboro, Colfax, High Point and Winston-Salem (Keyauwee Program Center).
Camp Ginger Cascades Adventure Base Camp is located on 226 acres just outside of Lenoir, NC in Caldwell County. This camp has a pool, cascades to slide down, rock climbing wall, archery range and a lake for canoeing, fishing and rowboating. Units at camp consist of cabins, log cabins, tree houses and a lodge with bunks.
Camp Pisgah is located on 162 acres in the mountains of Brevard, NC in Transylvania County. This property has many activity areas including a lake, pool, riding stables, climbing wall, petting farm and archery range. Camp Pisgah has six unique living areas that include yurts, cabins, tree houses and a small loft.
Keyauwee Program Center is located on 350 acres just south of Greensboro, NC in Randolph County. This site offers lakes, a pool and diving well, riding stable with a covered arena, 50 foot Alpine Tower, archery range, climbing tower and an air-conditioned dining facility. Sleeping quarters include air-conditioned bunkhouses, four-person cabins and platform tents with interior screening.
