GulfStream Communications and Ashvegas launch new website, Asheville Grit

Here’s the press release from GulfStream Communications, which also produces WNC Magazine:

ASHEVILLE, NC – GulfStream Communications launched Ashevillegrit.com May 22, 2014. Asheville Grit is a curated, online collective comprised of independent Asheville-area voices and features opinions on arts, music, events, food, outdoors, and more in a new, free-form venue. Working together with Ashevegas.com, the new site offers an unmatched variety of timely content and a superlative advertising platform for local and regional businesses. It truly lives up to its tagline, “Bold. Smart. Local. Now.”

The new website is a product of Charleston-based GulfStream Communications, publishers of WNC magazine, a nationally distributed lifestyle magazine covering the people, places, history, culture, and food of Western North Carolina. Asheville Grit is the company’s second Grit-branded website; Charleston Grit launched in 2012 to tap into the vibrant online Charleston community.

“We’re very excited about Asheville Grit and working with Jason Sandford and Ashvegas on this exciting project,” says Jed Drew, the President of GulfStream Communications. “Our Asheville based operations and our commitment to Asheville continues to grow, and we believe Asheville is the natural next spot in the expansion of the Grit brand across the South.”

Asheville Grit Curator Ayana Dusenberry says, “Having been with WNC magazine for over four years, I loved the idea of starting something new and offering a local platform for people in the area to express themselves in a new way. I’m looking forward to seeing it evolve as a community forum for showcasing all sorts of things. We have lots of exciting events and promotions planned around the voices of Asheville Grit.”

Ashvegas founder Jason Sandford, a former newspaper reporter and editor with more than 20 years of experience, says, “Grit is launching with a talented crew. The more voices the better to showcase just how fun and exciting Asheville is these days.”

Asheville Grit is actively recruiting bloggers and contributors. Please contact Ayana Dusenberry at grit@wncmagazine.com to learn more.
