Haywood County Health and Human Service announces operational changes to accommodate COVID-19 vaccination

Press release from Haywood County Health and Human Services:

Across the state, priorities of local health departments have shifted to accommodate COVID-19 vaccination. State guidance from NCDHHS to local health departments encourages scaling back on clinic services to maximize COVID-19 vaccination capacity.

Beginning Monday, Jan. 11, 2021, the Public Health division of Haywood County Health and Human Services will only be providing appointments for clinical services on Mondays and Thursdays.

This change is implemented until further notice. This change does not affect schedules for the dental clinic or WIC.

The Haywood County COVID-19 vaccination rollout follows the prioritization guidance provided by NCDHHS, which can be found here: https://files.nc.gov/covid/documents/vaccines/NCDHHS-Vaccine-Infographic.pdf.

Currently, those identified as 1A (frontline health care worker and residents and staff of long term care facilities) are being immunized. The next population will be those age 75+.

Those 75 and older can pre-register and be placed on a list of those interested in being contacted when vaccinations are available for the 75+ population.
For the fastest service, pre-register online at: https://www.haywoodcountync.gov/vaccine or by call 828-356-2019.

The duration of this phase of COVID-19 vaccination distribution will depend on response and vaccine availability. Information about vaccination opportunities for other populations will be publicized as Haywood County Public Health staff continue to work through the prioritization list.
