Meals On Wheels is seeking help from the community. Our mission is to provide nutritious meals, friendly visits, and safety checks to enable homebound senior citizens to live nourished lives with independence and dignity through the efforts of staff and volunteers.
Meals on Wheels is looking for volunteers to assist with meal deliveries. After Covid our program has lost volunteers, and we were forced to drop our meal deliveries to three days per week. Our goal is to return to five-day delivery schedule. Our program is dependent on volunteer participation.
We deliver on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and would require that the meals be picked up at our Meals On Wheels kitchen area at Paragon Parkway. The program requires just a couple hours one day per week. An individual could also coordinate a group of friends, family, or co-workers for rotation of a route. We also have a need for substitute drivers for most all of our routes in order to give our regular volunteers time for vacations or appointments. There are plenty of options and would be happy to work with your schedule. Our delivery schedule runs Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Volunteers arrive between the hours of 9:30-10:30, meals are delivered by noon.
In addition to volunteers to deliver meals, our program is also seeking donations. Donations to our program have decreased over the last few years and this has impacted on our program in that we are not able to serve as many individuals in need. Donating or perhaps sponsoring a recipient would allow us to move an eligible individual from our growing waitlist and onto the program. All donations are tax deductible.
