Henderson County TDA awards downtown merchants for best Christmas decorations

From Henderson County TDA:

Hendersonville, NC  – As part of the annual Home for Holidays promotion in Downtown Hendersonville, Henderson County Tourism Development Authority (HCTDA) awarded the best Christmas decorations to Downtown merchants.  Jongo Java took First Prize, followed by Christmas Garden with Second Prize and Dad’s Collectibles with Third Prize.

Postero, Black Rose, CA’s Cheesecake, Susan’s European Gifts, and Four Seasons Foundation’s Hospice Home Store received Honorable Mentions.

A volunteer team of judges, unaffiliated with HCTDA, strolled down Main Street and each of the Avenues on Wednesday, December 16th.  The judges viewed the decorations right after sunset, so that the Christmas lights were at their most spectacular.  Displays were given a score from 1 to 5 by each judge.  Scores were then tallied to arrive at the winners.

Winners and Honorable Mentions received certificates from HCTDA Executive Director Beth Carden, and the top 3 received a gift basket.

This is the first year that HCTDA has sponsored prizes for the best Downtown Christmas display.  HCTDA has encouraged an increase in holiday activities in December 2015 to extend the visitation season and promote year-round tourism.
