Hendersonville lights its holiday trees at Nov. 28 event

Press Release

From the Henderson County Tourism Development Authority:

HENDERSONVILLE, NC – As the day’s get shorter and the temperatures drop we begin to think about one of our favorite times of year here in downtown. Fancying ourselves as your hometown we look forward to the holidays each year because it engenders such a wonderful spirit of community throughout our community and downtown loves to be a part of that spirit. This year’s slate of holiday activities gives downtown the opportunity to thank our wonderful community for your year round support and gives you the opportunity to come out and show that support!

Kicking off the season will be downtown’s annual Holiday Tree Lighting event. Taking place on the Friday after Thanksgiving, November 28th, 2014, the event marks the beginning of the holiday season in downtown and this year we are pleased to welcome Fresh Market as an event sponsor.

The evening includes the kindling of holiday lighting throughout the district with the exclamation point being the illumination of the two large spruce trees that adorned the Historic Courthouse Square. Join us for free carriage rides along Main Street, Fresh Market’s hot cider and coffee, extended store hours from merchants and the festive atmosphere throughout downtown.

The event begins at 5:30 with a live holiday performance which will in concert with the crowd work to call Old Saint Nick to join the event. We need every voice we can muster to make sure he hears us, so be sure to bring along the whole family! The big man himself has the honor of flipping the switch on the downtown lighting shortly after dusk.

We hope you can join us for what is sure to be a fabulously fun evening, November 28th, 2014; music begins @ 5:30 pm and the lighting itself will take place shortly thereafter. Many stores and restaurants will be open following the lighting, so stick around and get some early Christmas shopping done, our downtown merchants greatly appreciate you considering them for your gift needs this year! Additional information about this event or others can be found by contacting Lew Holloway at lholloway@cityofhendersonville.org or 828.233.3216.
