In its third year, BaconFest promises “more bacon, more barbecue and shorter beer lines,” according Highland Brewing Co.’s online page for the event, which the brewery hosts on Saturday, Aug. 29, from noon to 4 p.m.

The outdoor festivities include family-friendly activities and live music by Bayou Diesel in addition to plenty of bacon samples from participating eateries like Chop House, Bouchon, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, Mojo Kitchen and Lounge, Lexington Avenue Brewery, Moe’s Original Bar B Que, Mellow Mushroom, Asheville Sandwich Company, Copper Crown, Bonfire Barbecue, The Social, Suclly’s Bar & Grille, The Barleycorn, Ay Caramba, Korean House, Acropolis, Monte’s Sub Shop, Creekside Taphouse, Hickory Nut Gap Farm, Beef Jerky Outlet, Fire Walker Hot Sauce and other vendors.

After collecting data from an appropriate sample size — or after reaching stomach capacity — eaters can vote for a winner in several categories: best bacon, most outrageous dish, best barbecue and best sweet swine, among others.

A portion of proceeds from tickets benefit Blue Ridge Food Ventures. General admission entrance costs $15 per person, and VIP admission is $35 per person. For more information, click here.
