Homeward Bound of WNC will no longer offer its Women at Risk program following a decline in both funding and referrals. The organization will no longer be providing court advocacy or psychological support services, but says it will strengthen its focus on ending homelessness.

Women at Risk, which advocates for treatment as an alternative to jail and prison, aims to keep women out of the corrections system by linking them to services that address the root causes of their criminal behavior. It also provides outpatient substance abuse and mental health treatment.
Participants are offered case management, court advocacy and therapy support to prevent recidivism. In previous years, 90 percent of program graduates have successfully completed their court-ordered probation and stayed out of jail.
