Press release
From MedWest Haywood:
Clyde, NC – The HRMC Board announced this afternoon that the process for a strategic partner for the hospitals in the MedWest Health System has reached another stage. The WestCare and HRMC Boards have been carefully evaluating affiliation options within a process that has been created in concert with the MedWest Health System Board. As part of that process, the WestCare Board voted to pursue an affiliation with Duke LifePoint Healthcare, a joint venture of LifePoint Hospitals and Duke University Health System. Within the same affiliation options process, MedWest Haywood is following a public process with a public hearing as required for a public hospital authority in North Carolina. HRMC’s decision awaits the conclusion of the public process and votes by the HRMC Board and the Haywood County Board of Commissioners.
“We are encouraged to have reached another milestone in this process,” said Frank Powers, Chair of the HRMC Board. “We look forward to the public hearings and working with the County Commissioners to find a decision that will most benefit our patients and community,” said Powers.
The HRMC Board will announce the details of the public hearing this week.
