HT-N: VA Medical Center restricts visits by those with flu symptoms

The Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville is asking people experiencing flu-like symptoms to refrain from visiting hospitalized inpatients or residents of the Community Living Center.

According to a statement sent from the center, signs have been posted at all medical centers, Community Living Center entrances and patient care areas. The signs ask visitors with respiratory symptoms to not visit patients, the Hendersonville Times-News reports.

The request is based on recommendations from the medical center’s infection control staff and follows similar precautions taken in previous years during times of heightened flu activity.
