JMPRO Community TV to hold “Live Report” event on March 30

JMPRO Community TV will host a “Live Report” on Saturday, March 30, from 5 – 8 pm at the YMI Cultural Center, 39 S. Market St. The event will feature a multimedia presentation about JMPRO’s bilingual community media platform, their accomplishments to date, and plans for the future. There will also be opportunities for networking. Light food and drink will be available. The event is free and open to the public.

Through their platform, JMPRO builds connection, shapes narratives, and celebrates culture. JMPRO trains community reporters who host livestream conversations as well as two radio shows on Asheville 103.3 FM. Their reporting addressing topics such as racial equity, immigration, and education – centering the voices of people most directly impacted by these issues. They partner with Word on the Street/La Voz de Los Jovenes to mentor young people.

JMPRO gives marginalized groups a way to create and share their own narratives, offering alternatives to negative, incomplete, and false stories created by others.
