Ken Steiner named executive director at PARI

Rosman, NC (October 13, 2014) – The Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute (PARI) has selected Ken Steiner to serve as executive director.  Steiner is a retired engineer who has worked in recent years at PARI as a consultant and volunteer. He will begin his new duties immediately.

Steiner will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of PARI staff, campus and programs. He will also assist in long range planning and development.  Steiner retired in 2012 from Enprotech Industrial Technologies, where he served as sales engineer for the Southeastern U.S. and Mexico.  Prior experience includes 17 years as a plant engineer for Almco Steel Products and president of an electrical contracting firm.  Steiner also served as vice chair of the board of directors of Heifer International and is currently Observatory Director for the Charlotte Amateur Astronomers Club.

The Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute (PARI) is a public not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) foundation established in 1998.  Located in the Pisgah National Forest 30 miles southwest of Asheville, NC, the PARI campus was selected in 1962 by NASA as the site for one of the first U.S. satellite tracking facilities.  Today, the 200 acre campus houses radio and optical telescopes, earth science instruments, 30 buildings, a fulltime staff and all the infrastructure necessary to support STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education and research.  PARI offers educational programs at all levels, from K-12 through post-graduate research.
