Kristen Goldsmith announces candidacy for Asheville City Council

Press release from Kristen Goldsmith:

Kristen Goldsmith announced today that she is running for the Asheville City Council District in West Asheville. Goldsmith has been active in local Democratic Party politics since 2016, most recently serving as Cluster Leader for the Buncombe County Democratic Party covering West Asheville’s nine precincts. An architect by training, she has worked a shift job in the retail sector for the last six years.

“Asheville has reached a tipping point. Every day, I hear from people about how rent is too expensive, housing is difficult to find, and that they’ll never be able to afford to buy a home here. It’s just too costly. As someone who has personally struggled with all of these issues, I understand what it means to live paycheck to paycheck. I will be a voice on City Council for Asheville’s working class,” says Goldsmith.

Goldsmith’s campaign focuses on making housing more available and affordable, providing better jobs and with living wages, and improving access to transit by creating more greenways and integrating public transit with all new development.

Kristen Goldsmith’s campaign for Asheville City Council will officially kick-off with an event at HomeGrown West on Amboy Road in West Asheville on Thursday, June 20 at 6:30 pm.
