Lenoir-Rhyne University is celebrating 10 years in Asheville

Lenoir-Rhyne University’s Center for Graduate Studies of Asheville invites the public to join in a 10-year anniversary celebration, in recognition of the school’s commitment to empowering students and community members in Western North Carolina. The event will take place 4-6pm on Thursday, Sept. 22. Lenoir-Rhyne’s Asheville Center is located at 36 Montford Ave., in the same building that houses the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce.

“Our decade in Asheville, which has featured a growing footprint highlighted by educational programs that serve local needs, symbolizes the university’s dedication to Western North Carolina,” said Michael Dempsey, the center’s dean and director. “From the beginning, our intention was to provide more learning opportunities and community services for area residents, and we have accomplished this, even though there’s much more work to be done in the future.”

The celebration will feature live music by local Americana band Tellico, and catered food and drink will be provided by GirlGoCook. The event is free and open to the public.

Lenoir-Rhyne’s Asheville site currently enrolls almost 300 graduate students, as well as about 100 participants per year through the Lenoir-Rhyne Equity & Diversity Institute (LREDI), a non-degree training program. The Center is home to the following master’s degree programs:

• Master of Arts in Counseling

• Master of Arts in Leadership

• Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT)

• Master of Business Administration (MBA)

• Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing

• Master of Science in Sustainability Studies

• Narrative Healthcare Certificate

• Dietetics Internship

In addition to academic services, Lenoir-Rhyne’s Asheville campus has been the site of community initiatives and events, and the Center’s staff have forged and continue to maintain business relations with the more than 80 Asheville-based tuition-discount LR Partners. Lenoir-Rhyne is now enrolling students for the spring 2023 semester, and the master’s degree programs are specifically designed to meet the needs of students balancing life, work, and school. Classes are held in the evenings to offer flexibility in scheduling for the working professional. Every program offers full-time, qualified faculty and staff who are readily available to answer questions and provide guidance to students as they plan for the future. Several virtual open houses are scheduled during the fall for anyone interested in learning more about higher education opportunities offered through the Center.
