Little hints of spring are finding their way lately. Have you noticed? More diversity in the birdsong? Buds beginning to color, even as they remain tight and safe? It may be the coldest month of the year, but if you watch closely, you’ll see that the sun’s light is changing, the earth is barely greening, and even the moon looks different. Here at Living Web, we’re seeding the very first of our vegetables, and standing in the quiet greenhouse, one can’t avoid the inevitable hope of a coming season.
As the seeds are stirring in the soil, we’re steady on the ground with winter workshops, all while gearing up for the work of summer. Join us in February for the final class in our Grazier’s Series, and round out your knowledge before the pastures start re-growing. We’ll also welcome author Ea Murphy to the farm, where she will share her methods for Whole Soil Assessment. What’s that? Well, if you’ve ever wondered how to factor in cover crops, compost, added fertilizers, and other amendments to you soil’s total nutrient profile, Ea should be able to give you a hand. Plus, a fun, light, and delicious tapas-style cooking class, new videos, and one of our favorite annual events is right around the corner: Organic Grower’s School’s Spring Conference.
Time to dust off the tools and straw hats. Growing season is coming.
