Local book release: Waldo Wisdom: Small Town Lessons for a Big Town World

Press release:

Local author and owner of Smiley’s Flea Market in Fletcher, NC, Ben Campen, announced today the release of his book “Waldo Wisdom:  Small Town Lessons for a Big Town World.”    This book centers around Ben’s upbringing in rural Waldo, Florida in the 50s and 60s where he learned the lessons on small town America:  small town values, love for your fellow man, hard work, and a how to live life with love, joy, and a sense of humor.

This book is a compilation of Ben’s weekly blog entitled Waldo Wisdom with the hope of passing on this wisdom on to others.  These blogs are personal stories that can help people find themselves and the happiness and success that lies within.

“Over the past 30+ years as I have shared many stories about my life, a common response was “you should write a book!”” said Ben Campen.  “Even though I appreciated their thoughts, I never had the compulsion to do so.  Instead, I started writing a blog in November 2015, and my readers kept encouraging me to write a book.  I shared this idea with, Elena Fraser, owner of Strategic Gator Consulting, who manages the social media for my weekly blog. She encouraged me to keep writing my blogs each week and suggested that a book might evolve from those writings.  Waldo Wisdom is a compilation of those weekly stories.”

Waldo Wisdom brought Ben a long way. He started his business career with less than $500 to his name and built highly successful businesses in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina.  And this success has allowed him to do philanthropic work at various places throughout the world and he’s received several commendations including the Service Above Self Award from Rotary International, Big Impact Award from Big Brothers/Big Sisters and was inducted into the 4-H Hall of Fame.

Waldo Wisdom is now available on Amazon or through the author’s website: bencampen.com.
