Asheville, August 31, 2017 – Mayor Esther Manheimer has proclaimed September 5 through 10 as the inaugural Asheville Entrepreneurship Week. The week features a host of events, starting with a Local Government Candidate Forum on Entrepreneurship on Tuesday, September 5 at 12 p.m. at the Hatch AVL Foundation on 45 S. French Broad.AVL entreprenuership week

Almost every candidate will be attending,” says Hatch AVL Foundation Events Leader and Anthroware Product Owner, Jeffrey Kaplan. “This is a unique opportunity for the startup community to interact with candidates. And Candidates, in turn, get a taste of the startup life – each one will give a 1-minute pitch to win us over to their ideas, just like we do all the time.” Each candidate will “pitch” for 1-minute on the topic of how Asheville can support high-growth startups, complementing Hatch AVL Foundation’s mission. Following each pitch will be a short Q&A. “Tickets are free, but required,” Kaplan reminds readers, and can be found online at Hatchavl.org/avlentweek

Asheville Entrepreneurship Week continues Wednesday, September 6 with the 1 Million Cups 3rd Year Anniversary Party and Asheville Design Salon’s “Hug a Developer Day” event. On the Thursday, Sept. 7, Hatch is having a Pitch Party, where anyone can come and pitch anything and receive honest feedback in a friendly setting. “Open Mic night for entrepreneurs” as the Facebook event describes it. On the Sautrday, Sept. 9, the Asheville Area Arts Council brings back the very popular Color Ball, and The Collider is hosting a film premier for ‘The Memory of Fish’ as well as a fundraiser. The week wraps up on Sunday the 10th with TEDxAsheville. These events, links, and further details are all found on Hatchavl.org/avlentweek.
