Will Bike for Food. Join Madison County farmers for the 2nd Annual Pedal to Plate bike to farm to table event. The cycle tour offers 33 beautiful miles, five farm tours & a delicious farm to table dinner at Root Bottom Farm.

Pedal to Plate, a farm to table bicycle event, will be held in Madison County, NC Sunday, September 17, 2017. Tickets are $75 and includes bike tour, dinner, farm tours, swag bag and refreshments. Tickets and information available at rootbottomfarm.com/pedaltoplate.

Bike riders start and stop at Root Bottom Farm in Marshall and travel a set 33-mile loop (approximately a three hour bike ride without stops) to five Madison County Farms. East Fork Farm, The Farmer’s Hands, Wendy Town Farms, Double Tree Farm and Root Bottom Farm will participate in this year’s event.

The route climbs over 2,600 vertical ft along winding Madison County back roads. There will be signs and volunteers along the route to help riders. The new 2017 route also includes three optional challenge loops that can add 12 more miles to the course.

Participating farms will host a farm tour or self guided tour. Vegetables and farm products from all the farms will be available for sale.

All farmers and riders return to Root Bottom Farm for a local meal created by Asheville chef Dava Melton of Blessed to Cook and Sebastiaan Zjiip of The Farmer’s Hands. The buffet style farm dinner is included in the ticket price and will showcase the five farms on the route.

This year 10% of all sales will be donated to Friends of Madison County Animals (FOMCA). FOMCA offers a wide range of Madison County programs including vaccine clinics, spay-neuter, pet pantry and Chain Free Madison. More information available at fomca.org.
