From Asheville Police Department:

Asheville Police arrested a man who discharged a firearm at a Housing Authority of the City of Asheville (HACA) recreation center on Livingston Street. Thankfully, no one was injured, and there have been no reports of property damage.

Asheville Police responded to the 130 block of Livingston Street around 5:34 p.m. on July 24th to investigate a fight in progress and, subsequently, gun discharge. When officers arrived, the fight had ended, and all involved parties had left the scene.

After further investigation and review of surveillance, officers identified Devonte Akeem Battle (01/13/1993), who was involved in the fight and discharged a firearm into the air. Battle was charged with Gun Possession on Educational Property, Discharge Firearm on Educational Property, Going Armed to the Terror of the Public, Simple Affray, and Discharge Firearm in City Limits.

Battle was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $25,000 (or $2,500 to a bondsman) secured bond by a magistrate and has since been released. The investigation is continuing.
