From a press release:

Mary Houge announced today that she was honored to be recognized by her community, saying, “Building and living in a community is important. I have given numerous free educational talks to build a healthier community. I enjoy speaking at Pardee Diabetic Support Group, Pardee Pulmonary Support Group, Pardee Breast Cancer Support Group and many more. I’d like to thank Pardee for incorporating integrative practices into their wellness plans.”

“I moved to Asheville in 2008 from Scottsdale, AZ. I didn’t know anyone. I rented a cute home in downtown Hendersonville in a designated commercial area. To my amazement, my practice was going full force within the first year. In 2012, I moved up to the Fletcher area and created a wellness center with a team. I now have integrated three other women: Sadhvi Velasques, LMBT, Lily Mallory House, L.Ac. and Jessica Theodossis, Esthetician.”

ABOUT THE AWARDS: The 2014 WNC Woman of year award focusses on women who are not only excellent in their respective fields, but these women entrepreneurs help to drive economic growth and create jobs. There has been a significant growth in the number of women-owned businesses in recent years. There are about 8.6 million women-owned businesses in the US. The presentation of the awards took place during the luncheon portion of the 2014 Women’s Business Conference hosted by Blue Ridge Community College Small Business Center Tuesday, Nov. 4th.

In November, Blue Ridge Community College recognizes the many accomplishments of women-owned and led small businesses, the great strides they have made, and the impact they have had on the economy of Western North Carolina.
