McDowell Hospital adds Dr. Maureen Ben-Davies to McDowell Pediatrics

McDowell Hospital introduces Maureen Ben-Davies, MD, MPH, as the newest member of the team at McDowell Pediatrics. Dr. Ben-Davies is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.

“We are thrilled to have Dr. Ben-Davies join the talented team of physicians at McDowell Pediatrics,” said Lynn Boggs, RN, MSN, MBA, FACHE, President and CEO of McDowell Hospital. “Her extensive training and innate ability to connect with children and their families ensure that they will have an exceptional experience at McDowell Hospital and McDowell Pediatrics. Dr. Ben-Davies‚ passion for pediatric care is evident from the moment you meet her.”

Before joining McDowell Pediatrics, Dr. Ben-Davies served as a Clinical Instructor in the department of pediatrics at UNC-Chapel Hill School of Medicine. She also worked as a consultant in food security research at RTI International in Durham, NC. She completed her residency in pediatrics at the University of Chicago Medical Center in Chicago, IL, and received her master’s degree in public health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Gillings School of Global Public Health. She also earned her medical degree and her bachelor‚s degree from UNC-Chapel Hill.

“I am excited to join McDowell Pediatrics because the physicians share my view that a child‚s well-being ties into a much bigger picture, a safe environment, access to medical care and healthy food,” said Dr. Ben-Davies. “I strive to deliver compassionate, evidence-based healthcare to all children and believe in collaborating with a child’s parents and family to support the child’s optimal growth and development. I can‚t wait to begin working with the families here in western North Carolina.”

In her free time, Dr. Ben-Davies enjoys spending time with her husband and son, making crafts and sinking into a comfortable chair with a great book.
