Mission Health Celebrates National Nurses Week May 6-12
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (May 05, 2014) — Each year, National Nurses Week recognizes registered nurses nationwide who improve the lives of individuals across the country through their hard work and dedication. The American Nurses Association (ANA) has selected “Nurses Leading the Way” as the theme for Nurses Week 2014. Mission Health is proud to honor the exceptional nurses throughout our system who lead with excellence in their field.
“Nurses across Mission Health continue to develop their leadership and professionalism by actively participating in clinical ladders and continuing their development in education to maintain and acquire certifications,” said Kathleen Culhane Guyette, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, Senior Vice President, Patient Care Services, Mission Health. “Their eagerness and willingness to learn with the end-goal of each and every patient in mind will continue to lead our patients toward improved outcomes and exceptional experiences.”
National Nurses Week begins on May 6, Nurses Recognition Day, and ends on May 12, marking the birthday of Florence Nightingale, founder of the nursing profession. During this week, Mission Health nurses will be honored through special events, including the DAISY Award Ceremony, which will honor four registered nurses, and the Compassion iN Action Award Ceremony, to honor three certified nursing assistants.
More than 4,300 nurses will be celebrated across Mission Health during National Nurses Week, including nurses at McDowell Hospital, Blue Ridge Regional Hospital, Transylvania Regional Hospital, Angel Medical Center, CarePartners, Highlands-Cashiers Hospital and Mission Hospital.
“I want to extend a personal thank you to each and every nurse across Mission Health,” said Guyette. “Your expertise, dedication and heartfelt compassion make a difference every day in the lives of those you serve.”
