Mission Health sites host drug take back event Oct. 28

Public service announcement from Mission Health:

Mission Health is partnering with local law enforcement agencies on Saturday, Oct. 28, to host the fifth annual Crush the Crisis, a prescription drug take-back event.

On Saturday, anyone in the community can safely and anonymously drop off unused and expired medication for proper disposal. Prescription drug misuse is a public health crisis in the United States. In fact, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 109,170 Americans died from drug overdoses in 2022, an increase from 2021.

HCA Healthcare’s Crush the Crisis events across the country will align with National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, sponsored by The United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

During last year’s event, Mission Heath collected 270 pounds of unused and expired medication as part of Crush the Crisis.

Items that will not be accepted are: Needles, Syringes, Lancets, Illegal drugs. Together, we can help make our communities safer and healthier. Find out more: HCAhealthcare.com/CrushTheCrisis
