Montford Park Players gear up for 2021 season

Announcement from the Montford Park Players: 

2020 was trying for everybody and Community-based Theaters like ours are no exception. With our hopes for better times ahead, we are planning our 2021 Season as we might any other. With that in mind, we are very aware that some shows might be relegated to the online world and others might have to change dates and/or limit seating.

Either way, though, we are committed to bringing you the best theater in Western North Carolina, as we strive to do every year.

We hope to see you at the Amphitheatre at one or all of our offerings this year:

A Comedy of Errors, by W. Shakespeare
May 7-22
Slapstick and farce abound in one of the Bard’s early plays. See where he honed his penchant for puns. word play and mistaken identities.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream, by W. Shakespeare
May 28-June 19
Always our biggest Shakespeare hit of any season it’s performed, Midsummer is one of Shakespeare’s best works and funniest comedies. Not to be missed!

Grimm’s Fairy Tales – A World Premiere!
June 25-July 24
Four local playwrights take on the tales of The Brothers Grimm and create a World Premiere that is sure to delight the whole family!

The Sword in the Stone – A North Carolina Premiere!
July 30-August 28
The Arthurian legend begins right here, with some more family-friendly adventure to get you and the kids through midsummer.

Pericles, by W. Shakespeare 
September 3-18
This rarely presented work gets the MPP treatment on the mainstage. If you’re looking to complete the canon, you’ve got to check this one off the list!

Macbeth, by W. Shakespeare
September 24-October 16
One of the most-popular plays ever written, this classic tale of murder and madness appears just in time for students to ask their English teachers for some extra credit.

Living Dead in Denmark
October 23-31
This sequel to Shakespeare’s Hamlet is both horrifying and HILARIOUS! Just in time for Halloween, MPP brings you this new take on this timeless classic. It doesn’t take BRAAAAAAINS to know you’ll love it!

We’re also hosting a couple of Montford Moppets shows, some virtual fare, as well as plenty of other special events.

Anytime we gear up for a new season, we need all the help we can get. This year we need even more than that, and the person we want to help us is YOU!

We’re going to need actors, directors, tech crew, board ops, volunteers and so much more. We’d love for you to join us in any capacity in which you feel most comfortable.
