From Native Kitchen & Social Pub:
As many of you may know, ArtSpace Charter School experienced massive damages following the storms last week. Heavy rains and the resulting mudslide flooded the interior of the school and ruined floors, drywall, and an extensive list of supplies for the students. In a community where teachers already give so much and pay for several materials out of pocket, this event is a tremendous blow carrying a heavy fiscal burden.
Fortunately, Artspace Charter School prepared accordingly with an insurance policy that covers flood damage, but there is a hefty $25,000 deductible that needs to be met before they can receive benefits to pay for the hundreds of thousands of dollars that are needed to remedy the situation. Meanwhile, students remain unable to return to class, and teachers, staff, and parents are assisting with cleanup as they have been since the flood occurred on Dec. 26th.
We at Native have a close and special relationship with ArtSpace Charter School, so in an attempt to help offset some of these costs, Native is holding a fundraiser all day tomorrow on January 6th. ANY and ALL proceeds from the day will be donated to the school’s flood recovery fund. Please join us in supporting this wonderful community as they get back on their feet!
