Press release from Campaign of Norm Bossert:

On Friday, December 12th, Norm Bossert filed papers for his candidacy for the North Carolina 48th District Senate Seat. Mr. Bossert brings to the campaign 43 years of work as a professional educator. A proven leader, he is the current principal of Black Mountain Elementary School. He serves as the lay leader of his religious community. Mr. Bossert is the secretary of the Democratic Party’s 11th Congressional District Executive Committee. He also served as the chair of the Transylvania County Democratic Party for three years. He has been a frequent contributor to the Transylvania Times and the Black Mountain News.

Mr. Bossert has been married to Shelley Kuhner Bossert for 43 years and is the father of Seth David and Aaron Bossert. He has six grandchildren. He has called Transylvania County home for twenty years.

As a career educator, Mr. Bossert has been sorely disappointed with the disregard shown our public school children and the people who serve them by the Republican led legislature.

“My campaign will focus on education, unfettered access to the voting booth, women’s rights, expansion of Medicaid, immigration, the protection of our environment, a fairly balanced tax policy and bringing jobs to Western North Carolina.”

You can learn more about Mr. Bossert’s campaign by checking out his Facebook pages Bossert for State Senate and Elect Norm Bossert.

Editorial note: Xpress previously noted Bossert’s run in a December article about primary candidates, without a statement from the candidate. Although it is not new information that he is running this is the first release from Mr. Bossert’s campaign.

I am excited to be running for this important seat. If you would like to support my candidacy, you can send donations to Bossert for State Senate, PO Box 253, Hendersonville, NC, 28793.

Mostly though, I want to thank Mountain Xpress for posting my announcement. Things need to change in Raleigh. That change begins when good hearted people remember that we are here to help one another succeed!
