Olivette community and farm announces grand opening of Rosebay Park

Olivette Riverside Community and Farm recently announced its grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, October 16 at the community’s Rosebay Park, according to a press release from community officials. Woodfin Board of Alderman members Jackie Bryson and Ronnie Lunsford joined Olivette community members to formally cut the ribbon and officially open the seven acre recreational park alongside the French Broad River.

“Our connection with the French Broad River is unique among communities around Asheville,” said developer Scott Austin of the park. “There’s really no place like Olivette in the area, and our access to the river comes with a responsibility to be good stewards of the land and water and to help educate our community about the ecological importance of healthy waterways.”

Facilities and features of the new park include a pavilion, the  Fire Circle Amphitheater, a suspended bridge and a stone labyrinth. The ribbon cutting event was attended by over 150 guests and featured music from local Americana duo Grits & Soul, in addition to refreshments provided by Homegrown Restaurant’s Saffron Catering company.

Olivette is a planned community and historic farm alongside the French Broad River, just over seven miles from downtown Asheville. The 346-acre property offers a blueberry and vegetable farm, an extensive riverfront beach and pavilion, a large river island and labyrinth, several miles of trails, a community-wide geothermal use, community gardens, extensive native and edible landscaping, two Little Free Libraries and bike sharing program.

Asheville, NC – Olivette Riverside Community & Farm celebrated its official ribbon cutting and grand opening on Tuesday, October 13, 2015. The ceremony took place at the community’s Rosebay Park, a 7 acre recreational area along the French Broad River that includes a pavilion, a one-of-a-kind Fire Circle Amphitheater, a ceremonial circle, a suspended bridge and a stone labyrinth. Woodfin Board of Alderman members Jackie Bryson and Ronnie Lunsford cut the ribbon, with the help of Olivette owners and Chamber of Commerce officials, to formally open the park to over 150 guests. Local duo Grits & Soul performed live Americana music, while Homegrown Restaurant’s Saffron Catering provided local refreshments.
