Pedestrian dies following Wednesday night hit And run

From Asheville Police:

Asheville Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run collision in which a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Wednesday evening in west Asheville.

APD officers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at the Acton Circle and Monte Vista Road intersection around 7:33 p.m. on October 2nd. The preliminary investigation indicates Robert David Bennett (03/24/39) was struck by a dark-colored sedan while crossing Monte Vista Road. The driver of the vehicle left the scene before officers arrived. Bennett succumbed to his injuries while on scene; next of kin has been notified.

Through their investigation, officers believe the vehicle involved is a black Toyota Prius with a damaged windshield, missing the Toyota emblem from the front grill. The driver was described as a white female.

Asheville Police are asking if anyone has information about this vehicle, the driver, or the collision, to contact APD at (828) 252-1110. You can also send an anonymous tip using the TIP2APD smartphone application (search “Asheville PD” in your app store) or by texting TIP2APD to 847411.
