Phillip Price declares candidacy for 11th Congressional District

Press release from Phillip Price for Congress:

After long and much prayerful contemplation, I am excited to announce that I have filed my candidacy to represent the wonderful people and the beautiful mountains of North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District in the US House of Representatives. It was my honor to have had your support during the 2018 mid-term election cycle as we ran a strong race against Mark Meadows in a very badly gerrymandered district that did not include most of downtown Asheville or Black Mountain. Well, now there are two things that have changed: Meadows is retiring, leaving an open seat, and the maps have been changed to include all of Buncombe County. I believe that the time has come for us to seize the moment and take the opportunity to reclaim the people’s seat at the table of governance in Washington. I will be thankful and honored to take the voice of the mountain people to the halls of Congress and sing it out loud and clear.

I believe that the politics of pointing fingers and making accusations must end and we must come together in harmony to find the solutions to problems that best serve the overwhelming majority. I believe that our government is broken and our economy is fixed to benefit mostly those at the top while the rest of us work harder and harder just to pay the bills.

I will continue to fight for Universal Health Care, Publicly funded higher education, climate-friendly renewable energy sources, and resilient infrastructure overhaul; however, we will achieve nothing in any of these fields until we address corruption in campaign finance. We MUST REMOVE CORPORATE MONEY FROM POLITICS before we can make any real PROGRESS.

This will be a short primary season as early voting begins on February 13th and the primary election day is March 3rd. I realize there are many important seats that need to be filled with good candidates this year and they will all require donations, so I am asking you to think of the opportunity that we have before us to take our seat in Congress and give what you can to the Price4WNC 2020 campaign. Every $10 and $20 donation helps to spread the message to more voters, so I thank you in advance for your support, your donations, and most importantly your votes.

Respectfully;

Phillip G. Price, Democratic Candidate

US House of Representatives

11th Congressional District of North Carolina
