Power Hour May 13 at Sky Bar: “WNC Women in Aviation: Altitude Determines Altitude”

From a press release:

Power Hour May 13 at Sky Bar: “WNC Women in Aviation: Altitude Determines Altitude”

In honor of the May anniversary of Amelia Earhardt’s birthday, and North Carolina’s historically significant role of “first in flight,” local female aviators and leaders Nancy Marstall and Cindy Carter have been invited to share their insights and inspirations on the topic “Asheville’s Women Aviators: Altitude Determines Attitude.”

Women in aviation offer a remarkable, illustrative example of what it means to fulfill our aspirations, overcome obstacles and succeed on our own terms. From the mid-20th century to the present day, Western North Carolina has welcomed women aviators. Women in aviation increasingly take on leadership roles within the broader, traditionally male-dominated field, making this topic timely and relevant.

The Asheville NOW “Women’s Power Hour” events are designed to open doors, create connections and encourage dialogue about ideas and issues. The venue for this event is the Sky Bar, located “on” the historic Flat Iron building indowntown Asheville, famous for its aerial views of the skyline. Attire is “casual Friday.”

The event is from 6-8 p.m. and is free to the public so please bring a friend. We provide light starter hors d’oevres, and guests purchase their own food and beverages.

A question and answer discussion and networking will follow the brief presentations. We will also have our “forward not back” North Carolina t-shirts and membership information at the event.
