Primary care physician Dr. Elsie Osei-Nkansah joins Vista Family Health in Arden

ARDEN, N.C. (July 22, 2013) – Vista Family Health, a member of Mission Medical Associates, announces the appointment of Elsie Osei-Nkansah, MD, as a primary care physician in Arden, NC. Dr. Osei- Nkansah’s certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics will allow her to provide quality care to western North Carolina patients.

“We are immensely honored to have Dr. Osei-Nkansah serve the patients of Vista Family Health in Arden,” Jill Hoggard Green, PhD, RN, President of Mission Hospital and Mission Medical Associates, said. “She is an outstanding clinician and has demonstrated a wonderful spirit of volunteerism in West Africa and in the United States. We look forward to her service to western North Carolina.”

A medical volunteer at Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry, Dr. Osei-Nkansah served her residency at Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) in Asheville, NC. In Ghana, West Africa, she participated in three international rotations at public and private hospitals. She also has served as a volunteer at the free community clinics in Johnson City, TN, and Church Hill, TN.

“I look forward to treating the patient as a whole person, attending to their emotional and psychosocial factors in addition to their physical needs,” said Dr. Osei-Nkansah, whose love of science and service propelled her to study medicine. “I also believe in treating not only the patient but also the family, and I advocate healthy lifestyles for individuals, families and communities.”

Dr. Osei-Nkansah received her medical degree at the James H. Quillen College of Medicine, East Tennessee State University, and master’s degree in organic chemistry at the State University of New York at Buffalo. She earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Tennessee.

Dr. Osei-Nkansah is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians, American Medical Women’s Association, American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Osei-Nkansah will begin seeing patients August 1 as a primary care physician with Vista Family Health in Arden, 2585 Hendersonville Road, 28704. To schedule an appointment, call (828) 687-8647.
