Here’s the press release from the Rogers campaign:
Brasstown, NC – Hayden Rogers, Democratic nominee in North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District, picked up a major endorsement today from current 11th District Rep. Heath Shuler (D-Waynesville).
“During my time in Congress, I have witnessed firsthand how the erosion of common sense, statesmanship, and values in Washington has crippled our government and driven America to the brink of financial crisis,” Shuler said. “I have spent the past six years working tirelessly across the aisle and fighting for real solutions to these challenges. For the people in Western North Carolina who want to see those hard-fought efforts continued, Hayden Rogers is the only choice this November.”
“Hayden is exactly the strong, pragmatic leader who can take over where I left off and rise above divisive partisanship to bring people together and move our country forward,” Shuler continued. “He perfectly personifies the people he will soon represent—hard working, God-fearing, staunchly independent, and guided by common sense. As my Chief of Staff and closest adviser for years, Hayden has already proven to be a fierce, effective leader and devout public servant for the people and small businesses of the 11th District.”
“Armed with the experience and resolve to get to work on Day One, there is no one who will fight harder for Western North Carolina now than Hayden Rogers,” Shuler concluded. “In Hayden I entrust my full faith and support, and I endorse him unequivocally. I will do everything in my power to help him get to Congress so that he may continue to provide the bold leadership that Western North Carolina needs and deserves in Congress.”
Rogers said he is humbled and grateful for the endorsement.
“The people of Western North Carolina deeply trust and respect Congressman Shuler because they know he will always put their interests before politics and partisanship,” Rogers said. “I am very honored to receive his endorsement and strong pledge of support.”
Rep. Shuler is currently serving his third term in the U.S. House of Representatives. He is a member of the House Budget Committee and House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. He also co-chairs the fiscally conservative Blue Dog Coalition and is consistently ranked as one of the most independent Members of Congress. Rogers served as long-time Chief of Staff to Rep. Shuler.
