Updated: AT&T says ‘service is restored’ for Buncombe County customers

UPDATE: AT&T says: “Service is restored for customers in the Asheville area who had issues with their wireless service.”

According the website DownDector.com, cell phone service for AT&T is down in Buncombe County. AT&T’s website requires a customer log-in to view outage maps.

Xpress has reached out to AT&T for more information.

UPDATE: Xpress asked what caused the outage, when customers could expect service to return and what customers should do in case of an emergency (does 911 still work?). We received the following reply from an AT&T representative:

Some wireless customers in the Asheville area may be experiencing issues with their service. Technicians are engaged and working as quickly as possible to resolve the issue.
