Roger McGuire Green in Pack Square Park to close for repairs

Press release from the City of Asheville Parks and Recreations Department:

Asheville, NC – The City of Asheville Parks and Recreation Department announced today that a portion of Pack Square Park will close for sod replacement beginning February 19.  The Roger McGuire Green portion of the park will be closed for approximately sixty days to allow the work to be completed and for the sod to develop a strong root system.

Pack Square Park is the site for many special events and hosts thousands of visitors throughout the year, sustaining a considerable amount of wear and tear on the turf.  By replacing the sod in the offseason, it lessens the impact on visitors during the busier months of the year and allows for a stronger turf.
