Sheriff’s Office COPS Team to hold drug take-back event at the Big Ivy Community Center

Press release from Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office:

Buncombe County – The Community Oriented Problem Solving (COPS) Team assigned to the Barnardsville community will be holding a drug take-back event on Tuesday, April 24.  The event will take place at the Big Ivy Community Center located at 540 Dillingham Rd. in Barnardsville, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Drug take-back events give the public an opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by disposing of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.

COPS Team will work to identify enforcement issues that impact the community’s quality of life and safety by speaking with community leaders and residents. The team will then create an action plan and present their findings and suggestions to community members and other stakeholders at the end of the 30 day period.

Anyone in the Barnardsville community with specific concerns regarding safety issues and enforcements should contact Lt. Kevin Calhoun at (828) 250-4440, or Kevin.Calhoun@buncombecounty.org.
