Press release:
Sit-A-Thon Benefiting the Shambhala Meditation Center of Asheville
Asheville, NC — The Shambhala Meditation Center of Asheville is hosting a meditation Sit-A-Thon from noon on Saturday, November 5, 2016 to noon on Sunday, November 6, 2016. The event is a benefit to raise $8,000 for the nonprofit’s building fund. The Sit-A-Thon will take place at the Center located in the North Asheville / Woodfin area at 60 N. Merrimon Avenue, Suite #113, in Reynolds Village.
The community is invited to participate and asked to either provide support through a donation on the event website at classy.org/ashevilleshambhala or sign up to be a fundraiser. Each participant has the opportunity to sit for up to 25 hours – thanks to daylight savings time. The event will include a mix of sitting and walking meditation plus yoga to keep the blood flowing. There will be plenty of coffee, tea, water and snacks to keep everyone’s eyes open.
“This event provides the opportunity for everyone to stop by the Center, at whatever time fits their schedule, to practice sitting meditation with others and consider the effects of facing life’s many challenges with the view of basic goodness,” said Keith Dubin, Center Director.
The Shambhala Center of Asheville is open to all for meditation practice and instruction, to find a sense of community and to share a vision for society that every human being possesses a nature of basic goodness. This simple yet profound view is shared through a variety of activities at the Center including meditation practice, meditation instruction, talks and discussion, weekend programs, special events, and ongoing classes all related to the Shambhala vision.
