Please allow me to introduce myself as the Public Affairs Specialist representing SBA in the Presidential Declaration NC20701 equivalent to FEMA 4827-DR NC.The disaster declaration covers Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Buncombe, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Clay, Cleveland, Gaston, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Lincoln, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Transylvania, Watauga, Wilkes and Yancey counties and The Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indians in North Carolina which are eligible for both Physical and Economic Injury Disaster Loans from the SBA. Small businesses and most private nonprofit organizations in the following adjacent counties are eligible to apply only for SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs): Cherokee, Graham, Iredell, Mecklenburg, Surry, Swain and Yadkin in North Carolina; Rabun, Towns and Union in Georgia; Cherokee, Greenville, Oconee, Pickens, Spartanburg and York in South Carolina; Carter, Cocke, Greene, Johnson, Sevier, and Unicoi in Tennessee; and Grayson in Virginia.All declared primary counties will have access to our physical property damage loans and Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) with the continuous counties having access to EIDL disaster loans only.My mission is to be informative of our disaster recovery low-interest loans provided to businesses, residents and private non-profit organizations affected by Tropical Storm Helene.We are in the process of getting organized on the ground and open Business Recovery Centers (BRC’s) and will staff all Disaster Recovery Centers (DRC’s) that FEMA will open as well.We are contacting all Mayors, Emergency Managers and Chambers as quickly as possible and trying to proliferate this information.Cordially,Liliana TschanettPublic Affairs SpecialistField Operations Center – EastU.S. Small Business AdministrationOffice of Disaster RecoveryCell (202) 945-7508
