Press release from Living Web Farms:
Snakes & Amphibians Workshop
Is fear your first response to seeing a snake in your garden? Is your second response aggressive defense? All snakes are beneficial, controlling rodents such as voles and rats, and also controlling garden pests such as slugs, snails and more. There are indeed two poisonous species that could possibly appear in your garden, if you live in Western NC. Just two! Learn how to identify them, and how dangerous they really are. Once you’ve got that down, be sure you get to know all the others snakes, too, and some amphibians that are nothing but very beneficial. Carlton Burke of Carolina Mountain Naturalists will lead the way in our May 10th class, Identifying Snakes & Amphibians from 6pm-7:30pm at the farm.
