New, improved maps installed on Tsali trails

Press release:

Bryson City, NC  – Eighteen new color trail maps have been installed on the four multi-use trails at Tsali Recreation Area. The map project is a collaborative effort between the US Forest Service and the Nantahala Area Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association (NAS), a local non-profit bicycle advocacy organization that performs the majority of trail maintenance at Tsali.

NAS surveyed the trails, worked with a sign maker and the USFS to ensure accurate information and installed the maps on April 10. Maps were installed at every trail intersection to help with navigation and emergency response. In addition to a “You Are Here” designation, each map has a unique number that can be used by rescue and Forest Service personnel to pinpoint location.

“Hopefully this means no more hikers, bikers, trail runners or horseback riders getting lost on the trail complex. These new trail maps unlock the magic of Tsali for all users,” says Karl Haiss, NAS Trail Liaison.
