Press release from Haywood Community College:
A typical college student relies on different sources to finance his or her college education. Many students rely on the Pell Grant to get through school, however, the grant does have a major setback. It does not cover summer courses. At Haywood Community College, students have another financial source they can rely on to help with the cost of summer classes. Due to the generosity of the Kelly family, the Foundation at HCC has $50,000 of scholarship money available to students who fill out the summer scholarship application form and get approved. Scholarship monies awarded vary in value and may cover tuition and fees, books, and/or supplies.
Students are urged to register for summer classes by the deadline, which is this Friday, April 28. They have until June 30 to apply for the summer scholarship. For more information, please visit haywood.edu or call 828.627.4500.
