Ten Thousand Villages Montreat holds shopping benefit

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (November 18, 2015) – On Sunday, December 6from 1-5pm, Ten Thousand Villages in Montreat (located at 303 Lookout Road, Montreat, in the Moore Center) will support Verner Center for Early Learning with its Community Shopping Event. 15% of sales during that timeframe will be donated to Verner’s Early Head Start home based program.  This program serves low-income families with children three and under. We visit families in their homes to provide parenting education, games and activities for the children, and connections to community resources that can help families meet basic needs and achieve their goals. All funds donated through this event will be used to purchase new materials and activities for our families.

The public is encouraged to start early with holiday shopping during this special event! Shoppers have the opportunity to support fair trade worldwide while simultaneously supporting high quality education for low income children in Buncombe County.

About Verner Center for Early Learning

Verner is a nonprofit center for early learning providing high quality, affordable care to children six weeks to five years of age in Buncombe County, North Carolina. The organization provides 5-star comprehensive care and education to almost 200 children and their families at their two centers in Asheville and Candler, NC, and through their home based program. In the home based program, teachers bring the classroom to the families. In- home educators provide support and resources to help families make sure their children are ready to learn and succeed. It is free to qualifying families in Buncombe County. Verner is an Early Head Start and North Carolina Pre-Kindergarten provider. Verner also provides families with supportive services and programs such as Mothers on the Move, and Rainbow In My Tummy® and trained staff provide individualized case management to families in crisis.
