PRESS RELEASE FROM ASHEVILLE AREA ARTS COUNCIL:
The Asheville Area Arts Council (AAAC) is now seeking applications for the 2016-2017 Regional Artist Project Grants (RAPG) Program, a statewide program sponsored by the North Carolina Arts Council. Interested artists are eligible for project grant awards, which support professional artists in any discipline and at any stage in their careers to pursue projects for professional development. Applications are available now and the DEADLINE TO APPLY is 5:00 p.m., FRIDAY, OCTOBER 14, 2016. This grant is sponsored by: the Toe River Arts Council (Mitchell and Yancey Counties); Madison Arts Council; Asheville Area Arts Council (Buncombe County) with support from Avery County and the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Cultural Resources Department.
Artists are eligible to apply for grants that provide financial support for all disciplines, such as visual art/craft, music composition, film/video, literature/playwriting and choreography/dance, and at any stage of their career. Types of fundable projects include the creation of new work, purchase of equipment and materials, and professional development workshops.
Workshops for grant applicants will take place at the following dates and locations:
• August 31, 4PM: Buncombe County, Asheville Area Arts Council’s Refinery Creator Space, 207 Coxe Avenue, Asheville, 828.258.0710
• September 1, 5PM: Mitchell/Avery County, Toe River Arts Council’s Arts Resource Center, 269 Oak Avenue, Spruce Pine, 828.682.7215
• September 1, 7AM: Madison County, Madison County Arts Council, 90 South Main, Madison, 828.649.1301
