Town of Mills River seeking input for American Rescue Plan Funding

Press release from town of Mills River:

MILLS RIVER, North Carolina – The Town of Mills River is seeking your input to help make decisions about how to invest its share of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds in the community.

On March 11, 2021, President Biden signed the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) into law which authorized $350 billion of direct funding to over 19,000 state, county, city, town, village, and Tribal governments across the United States. Last month the Town received the balance of its share of funding which amounts to $2,360,273.

To date the Town has provided funding to the Mills River Fire and Rescue Department and committed $70,000 over four years to support the Mills River Farm Market’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) double dollar matching program. The remainder of the funds have yet to be obligated.

Over the next two months the Town is conducting public input sessions and is seeking your feedback. A survey is scheduled to launch next week and on October 13, 2022 Town Council will discuss its ideas and priorities. Then on October 20, 2022 the Town is hosting two input sessions; the first mid-morning and the second later in the evening. The purpose of these is to hear directly from you.
