Press release
From VA news:
Two Women’s Life Abilities classes will be held at the Charles George VA Medical Center in the next three months, Women Finding Balance and Women Living Beyond PTSD. Both classes are five weeks long and will meet from 10 – 11:30 a.m., Wednesdays, in room 123 of the Mental Health Clinic.
Women Veterans who cannot attend in person may take part in these classes through video conference facilities in the Franklin and Rutherford County Community based clinics.
Women Finding Balance starts Wednesday, Feb. 12, and runs through March 12. The class offers women Veterans tools for managing stress, depression, relationships, and other kinds of chaos that make life difficult. Among the topics that will be discussed are self-awareness, balancing control and acceptance, managing multiple roles, finding emotional balance, and assertive communication.
Women Living Beyond PTSD starts March 26 and runs through April 23. This class focuses on common reactions to trauma, and on learning skills for effective management of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. It offers all of the information and tools of the Recovering from PTSD class, with a focus on issues relevant to female Veterans who are surviving trauma. Included is an introduction to therapeutic approaches that have been found effective in treating symptoms of PTSD.
Veterans who want to take part in one of both of these classes need to contact Dr. Lynn Marlow at (828) 298-7911 ext. 5707.
