UNC Health Pardee offering free mammogram screenings on Thursday, Oct. 26

Press release from UNC Health:

Hendersonville – In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, UNC Health Pardee is hosting a free mammogram night on Thursday, Oct. 26, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Screenings are by appointment only and will take place at Pardee Breast Imaging, located at 807 N. Justice Street in Hendersonville. To schedule an appointment, participants must contact Kristy Capps, RN, BSN, breast program manager, by calling 828-698-7184 or emailing kristy.capps@unchealth.unc.edu. Walk-ins will not be accepted.
To be eligible for the screening you must be 40 years of age or older, not had a mammogram in the past 12 months, are uninsured and have a household income below 500% of the federal poverty guidelines. This event is for screening mammograms only. If you have current breast concerns, please contact Pardee to explore other options.
“One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime,” Capps said. “This is why mammograms are essential; because they save lives and are our best tool for detecting breast cancer in its earlier, more treatable stages.”
UNC Health Pardee is a not-for-profit community healthcare organization and is managed by UNC Health. The hospital, founded in 1953, is licensed for 222 acute care beds. Pardee has several locations separate from the main campus, including a comprehensive physician practice network, a cancer center, four urgent care locations and six orthopedic clinics.
