UNCA chancellor Nancy J. Cable named Big South president for 2022-23

The Big South Conference Council of Chief Executive Officers has named UNC Asheville Chancellor Nancy J. Cable as the Big South President for the 2022-23 academic year. She served as vice president of the Big South Executive Committee for the 2021-22 academic year.

The 10 full-time member institutions of the Big South Conference are spread across North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.

“I am honored to serve in this leadership role,” Cable said. “We are proud of our membership in the Big South Conference, as well as all our student-athletes who not only excel on the field, court, track and in the pool but also in our classrooms, laboratories and student organizations.”

The Big South Conference Executive Committee has the authority to make decisions, when necessary, for the Big South Council of Chief Executive Officers. Additionally, the Executive Committee hears any appeals regarding penalties imposed by the Commissioner.
