Press release from UNC Asheville:

Discovery Day: The UNC Asheville Open House takes place on Saturday, Nov. 10, giving college-bound students and their families a chance to talk with current students, meet one-on-one with faculty and staff, tour campus and discuss academic programs, financial aid, scholarships and the application process.

New this year, Discovery Day will include faculty “office hours” – a chance for prospective students to meet one-to-one with faculty members in their areas of interest. Students and families will also be able to learn more about internships and undergraduate research, study abroad, pre-health professions, the Honors Program, and a variety of student organizations and activities.

Check-in will begin at 8:30 a.m. on the concourse of Kimmel Arena in the Sherrill Center, and the formal program will begin at 9 a.m. Preregistration is encouraged; complete information and online registration can be found at unca.edu/admission/visit/discovery-day/.

UNC Asheville ranked seventh nationally among public liberal arts colleges, in U.S. News & World Report’s “2019 Best Colleges” just published in September. The university also gained recognition for its Engineering Program – a joint degree program with NC State – for its Management & Accountancy Program, and for its low debt burden among graduates. Also listed as an “A+ School for B Students” by U.S. News, the university was recognized for seeking and admitting a broad and engaged student body – a characteristic of the university’s culture also shown in its No. 2 national ranking on the Princeton Review’s “Best Schools for Making an Impact” list.

In October, UNC Asheville was also again listed by Princeton Review among the nation’s green colleges. The university’s main dining facility, Brown Hall, gained certification as a 3 Star Green Restaurant® from the Green Restaurant Association, and UNC Asheville was designated a Fair Trade University.

For those unable to attend Discovery Day, individual and group tours are also available for prospective students and their families. For more information, email admissions@unca.edu or call 828.251.6481.
