The three parcels currently being considered for affordable housing are on South Charlotte Street, where the city currently has its Public Works Garage and Fleet Management facilities; on Biltmore Avenue at the old Matthews Ford site and on Riverside Drive at the “Ice House.” Up to 550 new affordable rental units could be developed.

NCDOT hosts open house tomorrow at the Arboretum to discuss changes to I-26/Brevard Road interchange
A public meeting will be held tomorrow, Feb. 25, from 4-7 p.m., at the North Carolina Arboretum to discuss the upcoming proposed changes to the Interstate 26/Brevard Road interchange. Though no formal presentation will be given at the meeting, maps will be on display, and NCDOT staff will be on site to answer questions and receive comments on the new design.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation held a Feb. 11 open house at A-B Tech’s Enka campus to encourage public input and conversation and to discuss some of the projects queued for Western North Carolina counties.
Geraldine’s Bakery open house
Geraldine’s Bakery will celebrate its recent opening with an open-house event 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. Geraldine’s, located in the former spot of Sisters McMullen Bakery on Merrimon Avenue, opened its doors on Nov. 18 after owner Fred Dehlow, a second-generation baker from New York, bought the business from Andrea McMullen.
