Wednesday Night Waltzes at White Horse

From a press release:

Wednesday Night Waltzes at White Horse

Wednesday Night Waltzes Glide Into to the White Horse

Wednesday, December 17, 2014 – 7 p.m.- Waltzing, music by Suzanne Hosch, Karen Gaughan and Atossa Kramer. $8

The twirling, gliding waltz, now the world’s more popular ballroom dance, grew out of Austrian folk dance roots in the late 1700s. Unlike its more sedate predecessor, the minuet, couples faced each other and actually touched, the man’s hand lightly on the woman’s waist, her hand on her partner’s shoulder, perhaps flashing a bit of ankle in the swirl of movement. It was considered scandalous when it first took Europe by storm, but the waltz in its many forms, with its long, graceful movements, continuous turns, and ebb and flow survived the outrage and continues to delight dance aficionados over 200 years later. Dancers and music lovers alike can enjoy an evening of the waltz at the White Horse Black Mountain on Wednesday, December 17 at 7 p.m. as the Wednesday Night Waltzes series continues. The band for the evening will be made up of dance veterans Suzanne Hosch, Karen Gaughan and Atossa Kramer, and waltz lessons will be provided from 6:30-7:00 for $5.
