Wildlife Commission Seeks Comments on Cold Mountain Game Land
CLYDE, N.C. (Feb. 17, 2015) — The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission is holding a public meeting on March 9 in Clyde to seek input on developing a management plan for Cold Mountain Game Land located in Haywood County.
The meeting will run from 6:30-8:30 p.m., and will be held at the Haywood Community College Auditorium, located at 185 Freelander Drive.
Wildlife Commission staff will use public input from the meeting to help guide management and user activities on Cold Mountain Game Land for the next 10 years. Cold Mountain Game Land is located southeast of Waynesville near Lake Logan and encompasses more than 3,000 acres.
If the meeting is postponed, it will be rescheduled for March 12 at the same time and location. The Commission will post on its website, www.ncwildlife.org, on March 9 if the meeting is cancelled. The agency also will post a cancellation notice on itsFacebook page and Twitter feed if the meeting is cancelled.
“We are encouraging everyone who has an interest in Cold Mountain Game Land to attend the meeting to provide input on how the property is managed,” said Gordon Warburton, mountain ecoregion supervisor with the Commission. “We hope to hear from hunters and anglers, but also from wildlife watchers, photographers, birders and others who use or have an interest in using these lands.”
The Commission also will accept comments and suggestions from people who cannot attend the meeting. Submit comments regarding this game land management plan at www.ncwildlife.org. Click on “Comment on Game Land Plans” in the scrolling icons at the bottom of the homepage. E-mailed comments will be accepted anytime to gamelandplan@ncwildlife.org. Type “Cold Mountain Game Land” in the subject line.
Attendees should note that management of U.S. Forest Service property (federal land) that adjoins Cold Mountain Game Land will not be discussed at this meeting.
